There are different hyphotheses about the story of Marcianise, but the most reliable is that this city comes from a Roman colony (especially from the urbanistic point of view).
In addition there are minor influences, such as:
- Etruscans, Ostrogoths, Greeks, Sunnis
who modified the territory by building walls of the castle.
-It seems that the origin of the city of Marcianise comes from the longobard people
since the first mention about the city is in a parchment of this population.
However, the occupation of settlements in their territory had to be in the form of an urban settlement, as was supported by local historians of the 19th century, but it became a "villae", that is to say, self-sufficient farmes who controlled the entire territory. Moreover, it was unthinkable that in the territory of Capua it was possible to install a city, even with small dimensions.
At first Marcianise was a vast flat expanse bathed by two banks, the Volturno, which marks the northern limit, and Clanio to South. It is the one called "Mesopotamia" of Campania, heart of Campania Felix so Marcianise is the center.
