ANNUNZIATA'S FESTIVAL

The symbol of this festival is to gift a sweet called “ o perduono” (forgiveness), a symbol of peace to forget fights between couples. The fight is linked to 25 of March, exactly 9 months before Christmas, a day that had to be special for Christ’s birth. A legend tells that all the people born on Christmas’ day would be transformed in werewolf or in old witches: janare. At this point conception had to be avoided during the 25 of March and to be forgiven by the unrequited love, people gift a candy caramel cane “o perduono”
