The Church of San Michele Arcangelo of Marcianise is located in the city center, near the Monte dei Pegni building. The structure of the Duomo probably dates back to the fifteenth century; according to some documentary sources. The current church was built on the remains of what was once a temple dedicated to Mars. With the increase of the population and the improvement of economic conditions, considerable changes were made to the church of Marcianise, to increase its prestige and monumentality. Between the sixteenth and seventeenth century the Cathedral of Marcianise was enriched with further decorations, including paintings. The interior of the monument is divided into three naves; on each side there are three chapels. A seventeenth-century painting with the representation of San Michele is part of the central nave. The famous Crucifix is kept in the Church of San Michele Arcangelo.
